Terms of Service
Version 2026-07-22. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of MedMatch, a platform that helps pre-health students discover clinical experience opportunities, on the web and in the MedMatch iOS app. By creating an account or using MedMatch, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy.
1. Who may use MedMatch
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By registering, you represent that you are 18 or older. Each student may maintain one account. Accounts are personal and may not be shared, sold, or transferred.
2. What MedMatch is, and is not
MedMatch aggregates opportunity listings from crowdsourced submissions, AI-assisted web discovery, and administrator entries. Listings describe third parties that are not affiliated with MedMatch. MedMatch is a discovery tool: it does not place students, employ students, supervise clinical experiences, or guarantee that any listed opportunity exists, is current, or will respond.
3. Data accuracy disclaimer
The opportunity database is crowdsourced and machine-assembled. Contact details, requirements, and availability may be out of date, incomplete, incorrect, or contributed by third parties. You are responsible for independently verifying any opportunity before relying on it, visiting a location, or sharing personal information with a listed organization. MedMatch disclaims responsibility for the accuracy, validity, completeness, or legality of listing content to the fullest extent permitted by law.
4. Content standards: no patient information, ever
MedMatch serves clinical settings, so this rule is absolute: you may not submit content that identifies, or could reasonably identify, a patient. This applies to reviews, opportunity submissions, and every other free-text field, and it includes:
- names or nicknames of patients, or details that could identify one
- Social Security numbers, medical record numbers, or account numbers
- patient dates of birth, admission dates, or other identifying dates
- patient contact information, addresses, or insurance identifiers
- photographs or descriptions of identifiable patients or clinical records
MedMatch runs automated screening designed to detect and block common identifier patterns before content is stored, and moderators review flagged content. This screening is a commercially reasonable effort, not a guarantee: you remain responsible for what you submit. Content that violates this rule is removed, and repeated violations end the account.
5. Your content
You keep ownership of the reviews and submissions you write. You grant MedMatch a non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, display, moderate, and distribute that content within the platform. Every submission passes through a pre-publication moderation queue, and moderators may edit, reject, or remove content that violates these Terms.
6. AI features
Search, listing extraction, ranking, and outreach drafting use third-party AI services. AI-generated content can be wrong: verify AI-drafted emails before sending them and treat AI-discovered listings with the same skepticism as any other listing. The "AI-corroborated" label means automated checks found the listing's contact details consistent with the organization's own website; it is not a human verification. AI and geocoding features depend on funded third-party services and may be throttled, suspended, or disabled.
7. Acceptable use
- no scraping, bulk export, or automated querying of the database
- no fake reviews, fabricated listings, or impersonation
- no attempts to bypass rate limits, screening, or moderation
- no use of the platform to harass listed organizations or other users
8. Credits and purchases
Searching MedMatch spends credits. New accounts receive a starting balance at no cost, and you can buy more in packs. Drafting outreach emails, uploading a CV, saving, tracking, and reading reviews do not spend credits.
- On iOS, credit packs are consumable in-app purchases through the App
Store, billed by Apple to your Apple Account. Because credits are consumed when you search, they are not restorable: there is no "restore purchases" for a pack you have already spent.
- On the web, credit packs are billed through our payment processor.
MedMatch never receives or stores your card number.
Prices and pack sizes are shown before you buy. Credits have no cash value, do not expire, cannot be transferred between accounts, and are not redeemable for money. A purchase is credited to your account only after the transaction is verified, so a pack you paid for is never lost to a dropped connection.
Refunds for App Store purchases are requested from Apple under the App Store Terms of Service; MedMatch cannot issue them directly. Refunds for web purchases are handled by us through our payment processor. Where a refund is granted, the corresponding credits are removed from your balance.
Deleting your account forfeits any unspent credits.
9. Account deletion
You may delete your account at any time from the account settings on either platform. Deletion removes your profile and personal data as described in the Privacy Policy. Reviews already published may be retained in anonymized form to preserve the integrity of listing ratings.
10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
MedMatch is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, MedMatch's total liability for any claim arising out of these Terms or the platform is limited to the amount you paid MedMatch in the twelve months before the claim. MedMatch is not liable for the conduct of listed organizations or for anything that occurs at an opportunity you found through the platform.
11. The iOS app and Apple
These Terms are between you and MedMatch only. Apple is not a party to them.
- MedMatch, not Apple, is solely responsible for the app and its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the app.
- If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple
and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app, if any. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the app.
- MedMatch, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claim that the app or
your use of it infringes intellectual property rights, and for any product liability claim, any claim that the app fails to conform to a legal requirement, and any claim arising under consumer protection or similar law.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S.
Government embargo or designated as a terrorist-supporting country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and,
upon your acceptance, have the right to enforce them against you.
Your use of the app must also comply with any applicable third-party terms of service, including the App Store Terms of Service.
12. Changes
These Terms may be updated. Material changes are announced in the app, and continued use after the effective date is acceptance. The version identifier at the top records which Terms you accepted.
